Trees are the lifeblood of our natural world. One of the greatest natural carbon stores in the world, biggest oxygen producing organism while also fertilising and stabilising soils across the globe. Trees are the world's lungs and immune system and our greatest natural resource against climate change.

The vital and positive impact native trees have on local habitats is less well known. Scientific research is constantly uncovering the great importance of native trees on their environment. Trees communicate and share nutrients with one another to create a network of healthy specimens, the resulting product is a stable and fertile landscape that controls the local climate and environment which benefits our native wildlife. Mature native trees are habitats of their own, an oak tree can be home to over 500 species living on one specimen. They offer wildlife food and shelter even decades after death. The long life of trees also gives us a connection to our past and future, native species such as the English Oak and Sessile Oak living up to 1000 years old.

To commemorate the passing of Queen Elizabeth we are proud to be supporting the Queen's Green Canopy. This is an initiative to plant as many trees as possible over the British Isles, recording them on an interactive map. Any trees that we plant will be added onto this map so you can see exactly where your tree is planted in West Berkshire.
